Enrique Otero and Santa Fe Waldorf volunteers on the bus before the drive back to school, June 3, 2014
On June 3 and 4, 2014, two groups of Santa Fe Waldorf High School Students and teachers joined Tim Rogers, SFCT’s Trails Program Manager, and crew leaders provided by the Trails Alliance of Santa Fe (TAOSF), to work on trail maintenance in Dale Ball Trails northeast of the Wilderness Gate Trailhead.
The Waldorf and TAOSF volunteers effectively addressed erosion issues on the Dale Ball Trails by building subtle water diversions and “de-berming” sections where the trails were developing undesirable troughs. Significant progress was made dealing with problem areas up to Junction #39 and toward Junction #40 (see City of Santa Fe’s Foothill Trails Map, Dale Ball and Connecting Trails).
Thanks for great attitudes and great work by the Waldorf students!
Also special thanks to Waldorf School staff who made this collaboration possible – Enrique Otero, Matthew Burritt, and High School Coordinator Elliot Ryan.
