Five volunteers, including four first-timers, met with the Trail Volunteer Coordinator for a work day on Sun Mountain Trail. We focused on the lower part of the trail where we de-bermed, created a few “grade reversals” to improve drainage, and filled in one particularly pronounced gully in the dirt. We also made it up to the bottom of the longer, rocky section of the trail and took advantage of a few de-berming opportunities.
The “rookies” proved very quickly to be up to the task! A big thanks to them, and also to Trails Alliance of Santa Fe “old hand” Stephen Washburn for providing crew leader assistance.
